We have discontinued music except for musicians playing only originals or music in the public domain. They will be announced as available on site.
This is due to harrasment from ASCAP (American Society for Composers, Authors, & Publishers), BMI (British Music Industries), and another new "licensing" company called SESAC who are demanding thousands of dollars in royalties just in case someone plays a tune to which they claim performance rights. They also want money to let us play the radio! Please call your congressman and let them know the copyright laws have gotten out of hand!
These laws were originally designed to protect the income of the creating artist for just a few years, as they were losing sales to counterfeit recordings when their tune became a hit.
They have been changed to last almost indefinitely through pressure from multinational corporations who smell profits. They prey on small business and pay very little to the creating artists who often assign their rights to others.
Many establishments locally and around the country have discontinued music for these reasons.
